Mayor John Castleberry
John Castleberry was born in Sheffield, Alabama on November 30, 1952. In August of 1958, John’s family relocated to Iuka. He graduated in 1970 from Iuka High School and from Mississippi State University in 1974. John is also a 1984 graduate of the School of Banking at LSU. He enjoyed a career in banking spanning 37 years and retired from the industry in 2011.
On October 31, 1986 John married Shelia Curtis Castleberry. John and Shelia have one son, John Curtis, born on July 31, 1993. They are members of the Iuka United Methodist Church where John has served on the Administrative Board, the Staff Parrish Relations Committee, the Board of Trustees and presently serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee.
John served as Alderman for the City of Iuka from July 1, 1981 until December 31, 1987. John has always been active in his community where he is also a member and Past President of the Iuka Rotary Club, has served as Chairman of the Board of the NMMC , served on the board of the Iuka Boys and Girls Club, served as a member of the Funds Distribution Committee of United Way of Northeast MS for Tishomingo County, is a member of the Board of the Tishomingo County Development Foundation, is a member of the board of the Tishimingo County Electric Power Association and is the Treasurer of Iuka Heritage, Inc. which owns and maintains the Episcopal Church, one of Iuka’s Historic landmarks.
He was elected Mayor of Iuka on July 1, 2013.
James “Kissum” Grisham
James “Kissum” Grisham is a lifelong citizen of Iuka. He is a graduate of Iuka High School, NEMJC and Mississippi State University. James retired from Bonds Company, Inc. in 2008. James and his wife, Martha are members of Iuka Baptist Church and live on Pearl Street. He has served as Alderman since 2005 and has been elected Vice Mayor for the current four year term.
Johnny Southward has been the Manager of Iuka Furniture Outlet for the past 18 years. He began his career with Town and Country 26 years ago. As a lifelong resident of the City of Iuka, Johnny graduated from Iuka High School in 1983. He and his lovely wife Gloria have two boys, Martin and Jonathan. Johnny and his family attend the First Missionary Baptist Church where he is a Trustee and the President of the Choir. He is the President of the Food Pantry as well as having served as one of Iukas Aldermen since 2005. Johnny says he “Enjoys living in beautiful Iuka and watching it grow”
Martha Biggs is a lifelong resident of Iuka. Martha is a graduate of Iuka High School and attended Northeast Community College. She is employed by the Tishomingo County Electric and Power Association in the Engineering Department. Martha has served as Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Iuka Heritage Festival Committee and is currently the President of the Iuka Heritage Committee, Inc. Martha serves as Chairman of the Iuka Christmas Parade and has served as Alderwoman since 2001.
Joel Robertson is married to Tonia Senter Robertson, and has four children (Noah, Sydney – deceased, Andee Jane, and Isaiah). He and his family are members of Mount Evergreen United Methodist Church. Joel is a graduate of Iuka High School and holds an undergraduate degree in business, with a minor in marketing, and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Technology. He is employed with Tishomingo County School District in the Superintendent’s Office, where he serves the public as the Communications Director, which encompasses buildings, grounds, transportation, school board clerk, mass emergency communications, and school safety. He also has extensive work experience in the field of technology and grant writing. Joel is also involved with youth activities in which he serves as an Assistant Scout Master with the local Boy Scouts of America, Troop 26.
